“And He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” Luke 18:27

Life often does not turn out the way we plan. That is why they say when we plan God laughs. When we have our hearts set on something, it is so incredibly difficult to be patient. We often think we can succeed on our own will, with our own strength. That if we work hard enough, hustle hard enough, and do everything just-so that things will happen in our lives how we want them to. This is not the case though, is it? We need to be more trusting in God’s timing.

We think we can control things and get what we want on our own will. When things don’t go our way, despite all of our hard work, we get frustrated. We wonder what we are doing wrong, and often search for answers in other people. What is everybody else doing right that I’m doing wrong? Rather than looking to the world for answers, we should look to God.

It is not by our own strength that we succeed, but by God’s will.

Yes, we humans can do great things even if we do not actively seek God, but don’t think God wasn’t there all along guiding us. If He can do great things by these means, think what He will do when we actively seek Him out. When we ask God to put His great hand in things not only will we thrive, but things will happen in ways that are beyond what we could ever dream.

Often things do not turn out the way we think they should. How presumptuous are we to think we know what is best for us? I don’t know anybody that has travelled to every corner of the world, read every book known to man, or explored the great spaces of our galaxy. So what makes us think that we know everything, including what is best for us? God knows us better than we know ourselves, He knows our future and our heart. He is the creator of our universe. When things don’t turn out how we want, it is because He has something better in store for us. God’s way is always best. His way will always lead us to our happiest, most prosperous life.

Creating great things takes time.

It has been said that timing is everything. As humans, we get in a rush. It’s in our nature to want what we want, how we want it, and when we want it. All great art takes time. This is true for our lives. God is the sculptor of our lives. When things do not happen how we want them to, remember that God is helping to create a life for us we could never have imagined. Keep your mind and heart open to the possibilities that He has in store for you. Just the thought of what He may be creating is exciting!

God can take our dreams beyond what our minds can ever imagine. He will provide the talent, the skill, and the opportunity. He will give us everything we need. All he asks is that we trust and put in the work. Don’t get discouraged when your hard work doesn’t seem to pay off. The pay-off will be greater than what we can imagine, and this is why God is taking His time with it.

When God gives you more than you can stand, kneel.

When in doubt, pray. Pray for a patient heart to wait for God to answer your prayers. Pray for trust that whatever He has planned for you will be better than anything you could ever imagine on your own. Pray persistently and fiercely for what you want. It may take longer for God to answer your prayers than you think it should. This is because His timing is perfect. He is taking His time because great things are not made overnight.

So what are we to do in the meantime while God is hard at work? If everything is up to God’s timing then why try at all? He calls us to these 3 things: work hard, pray hard, trust. As I said, He will provide you with everything you need. It is up to us to take the gifts He has given us and go to work. Remind yourself that His timing is perfect, and things will happen when they are supposed to. He will take our vision for our lives beyond what we could ever imagine. When we put our faith in God, nothing is impossible.
