Happy Sunday everybody! I love sharing my newest posts on Sunday, because I want you all to enjoy a day of some quiet rest with Him while reading my posts. And if you’re like me, that includes a warm drink in your hand and a blanket on your lap (or a dog, whichever is readily available)! I want this to be a place you all look forward to coming for some relaxation, relief in Him, and all the good stuff we all need on a Sunday 🙂
Today I wanted to do a more light-hearted post. One with some pretty pictures, and maybe a little inspiration for you to make the most of this time of year. We are in the middle of my absolute favorite season, and I couldn’t feel more content!
Since I was a kid, fall has always been my favorite time of the year. Growing up in the midwest, I think most people find this is their favorite season. No offense to Christmas and all, but there’s something so warming and comforting about fall. So today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things about fall. I would love for you all to share your favorite things with me also, in the comments or on my Facebook or Instagram accounts. I’d love to hear from you!
You really can’t beat the beautiful scenery God surrounds us with during fall. The vibrant, warm colors, the crispness in the air, leaves gently cascading down from branches of trees. I could go on and on. Outdoors is where I feel closest to God. I think this is a major reason I can’t get enough of fall. Also included: some action shots of our dog Bryan going swimming at a local forest preserve these pictures were taken at. One of his favorite things do to!
Even though we don’t have kids, I still love going to the pumpkin patch! Negangards is a local one to us that I love because it’s a family operation (most pumpkin patches are around here), it’s set in the gorgeous countryside, and their prices are hard to beat. My hubs always humors me, and goes to help me pick them out. He even picked out and tied up some indian corn on the posts by the road (I need to get a picture for you all)! With some apple baskets and crates from his family’s old apple orchard, these pumpkins, gourds, and mums beautifully adorn our back porch. I just love decorating our home for fall!
I got into hunting after meeting my husband. He offered to let me use his old gear if I wanted to try it, rather than spending all the money only to find out I didn’t even like it. To my surprise (and his too I think), I really liked it! I got a deer with a bow my first year out, and have been going every since. It’s very gratifying harvesting your own meat to feed your family. I’ve really enjoyed learning about hunting and conservation management, and I get to do it with my best friend. Plus, you can’t deny the gorgeous view of the woods from a tree stand!
Though I didn’t grow up in a farming family, when you live in a small town farming is a way of life. If your family doesn’t farm, you know a lot of people that do. Conversation centers around how much the farmers have harvested so far, whether they have been able to get into the fields much (weather pending), and how good of a yield they think they are going to have. It’s always exciting to see that first combine in the field picking corn. And as always, I love the views! So grateful for our farmers and the hard work they do to feed our communities and the world.
And there you have it! Some of my most favorite things about fall. As I was writing this, I realized I was running out of room to include everything that I love about fall. So, in a few weeks I plan to do a “Part 2” of my Home and Harvest post to share even more fall fun. Until then, get out and enjoy it all my friends, and don’t forget to share your fall faves with me!
